Merit Badge are a core award in scouting to demonstrate proficiency in a specific skill or area of study. They are usally a life skill, an activity, or an area of study.
Follow 4 simple steps:
Chose a merit badge.
Tell your Scoutmaster, then find a counselor.
Read the merit badge book. (Use search bar!)
Complete the requirements with your counselor.
A merit badge counselor is an adult volunteer who guides Scouts through the requirements of a specific merit badge. They are experts in their field and help Scouts learn new skills and explore potential interests. To find one, a Scout should first discuss their interest with the Scoutmaster, who can then find one using ScoutBook.
At Summer Camp, a scout can earn 2-6 merit badges at once. By attending camp, the camp staff will act as the counselor to instruct the merit badge to multiple scouts. It is a lot of fun, and a great boost, too!
