With your Right hand, hold up the number three. Then, join them together as shown in the photo. Cover your pinky fingernail with your thumb. Then, hold it up with your elbow at a right angle. You hold this sign up when you say the Scout Oath or Law.
To salute, make the same sign. BUT, hold it up to your forehead or the tip of your hat. (If you're wearing one.)
